Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti names Brazilian legend Neymar Jnr in the final twenty six for the 2026 World Cup in USA, Mexico and Canada.
There was speculation about whether Neymar would be named in the Ancelotti’s squad.
Neymar who has been out of the National team for some years now expressed his desire to play his last tournament with the Brazil national team.
Neymar however makes the squad at the expense of Joao Pedro, Andrey Santos and Thiago Silva.
Speaking in defence to the inclusion of Neymar into the National team, the former Real Madrid manager said he and the technical team spent a year analysing Neymar.
Carlo Ancelotti: “Neymar will be an important player for us at the World Cup”.
“We spent the entire year analyzing Neymar. We realized that in this last period he had continuity and was in good physical condition”.
Ancelotti however issued an apology to the players who missed out, emphasising that they will have chances in the near future.
Carlo Ancelotti: “I am sad for players who have been left out, like João Pedro”.
“They will have chances in the future”.
Carlo Ancelotti: "Believe me, I am sad for João Pedro. With the season he is having, he probably deserved to go to the World Cup."
However, with all possible respect and with so much competition, we chose other players ahead of him... But we truly feel sorry for João Pedro. I’m sorry."
