GNAPS Football Competition 2026: Asops Academy seek to defend title as 11 schools compete at Apremdo 2BN Military Barracks

 

The search for talents and the battle for bragging rights always come to bare in February when private schools come together for the annual GNAPS football competition and this year's competition is no exception. Every year private schools across the country and specifically Assakae, Whindo and Adientem come together to celebrate the GNAPS week celebration.

Last year's (2025) competition was keenly contested by these ten schools in Assakae and Whindo at the Kwesimintsim SDA park.

Vidomar Education Centre

Golden Child Preparatory School

Africa Leaders Preparatory School 

First Baptist International School 

Great Nabek International School

Graceville International School

Where He Leads Preparatory School

Bensther Preparatory School

Unique Practice Preparatory School 

Christian School Complex 



Asops Academy proved unplayable for the other competing schools in the boys competition as they played the competition without conceding a goal. They eventually won the ultimate by defeating Pentecost Preparatory School in the final by 2 goals to nil. 


Christian School Complex on the other hand also won the girls competition by narrowly defeating Where He Leads Preparatory School in the final.


Francis Otoo who doubled as the captain of Asops Academy won the goal king and the player of the tournament with Justice Oppong of Pentecost School also winning the goalkeeper of the tournament in the boys competition.


Sylvia Enyine of Great Nabek International School was also crowned the best player in the girls competition whiles Beatrice of Where He Leads Preparatory School also won the goal queen of the tournament.


The euphoria around this year's tournament indicates that this year's edition will be nothing short of exciting and educative. 

With schools being assured of free transportation and maximum security as the tournament is set to take place at the 2BN Military Barracks, Apremdo. 



New sporting disciplines like Volleyball, Table tennis and a soccer competition for the Lower primary department has also been introduced making the build up to the tournament a heated one.

Eleven schools have so far expressed interest in taking part in the competition this year.

Christian School Complex are all schools that have registered to take part in the competition with Ponty and Pintoes making their debut.




Talks about who wins what and who plays who all calmed down after the balloting and groupings of schools for the competition.

Group A - Asops, Complex and Pintoes

Group B - Pentecost, Vidomar, Africa Leaders and Golden Child

Group C - Great Nabek, Bensther, Ponty and UPPS


The competition begins on Monday with the Pre-school department games which compromise of Color sorting, bottle filling, music chairs and holaloops 


Tuesday will witness the Athletic competition from the preliminary stages to the finals.

Registered schools will be battling for kings and queens in the 100m, 200m and 4X100m races in both the senior and junior departments.


The football competitions will also be played simultaneously in both departments on Wednesday as Asops and Christian School Complex kick start the tournament in a grand style.
