The Porcupine Warriors had enjoyed a long spell of victory over the Phobians, with the Rainbow Boys dating their last Premier League win over the Porcupine Warriors back to 2015.
Asante Kotoko entered the game following their elimination from the MTN FA Cup and the dismissal of their head coach, Karim Zito.
The Warriors were still confident of attaining a victory over the Phobians as they did in the first half of the season as they defeated them by a goal to nil at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Hearts of Oak went into the game full of confidence as they had the Black Stars' number one Benjamin Asare in the goal posts for them.
Coach Didi Dramani's side had however conceded just seven goals in the ongoing Ghana Premier League making them the best defensive team in the league.

Emmanuel Amankwah in the 34th minute was sent off by referee Daniel Laryea as he received a second yellow card for a tackle on Patrick Asiedu.
The loud cheer from the Porcupine Tertiary and the introduction of Donzo, Seth Kwadwo, and Kwame Poku were not enough to engineer the equalizer for Asante Kotoko.
The game finished 1-0 in favor of Accra Hearts of Oak and this win also pushes the capital-based club to second on the league log with 39 points and 5 points behind League leaders Medeama
