The game saw Adrian play against his former side for the first time since leaving the club. Liverpool through a first half strike by Dominik Szoboszlai cruised to victory over Real Betis.
The Reds lined up in a very balanced fashion with players like Kelleher, Bradley, Quansah, Van den Berg, Tsimikas, Endo, Szoboszlai, Curtis Jones, Fabio Carvalho, Elliott and Mo Salah.
One would say that was relatively positive side despite the Reds missing first team players like, Allison, Trent, Robertson, Konate, Van Dijk, Mac Allister, Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota.
Mo Salah who captained the Reds assisted Dominik Szoboszlai on the 34th minute of the game to score the games only goal.
Curtis Jones on the other hand was replaced by Trey Nyoni on the 30th minute as Jones walked off injured.
Speaking on the game, coach Arne Slot had these to say as he lamented on the availability of a striker at the club at the moment affecting their play.
"We played with (10) playmakers and this is something we will not rely on during the season, but we do not have a striker at the moment, when we have it our play will be different."
Arne Slot also touched on Liverpool improving once Trey Nyoni came in:
"It started with a player who came on [Nyoni] who speeded up the game for us a lot, he found these players in between the lines a lot of times, that's the quality we needed in those 6 positions
The manager also talked about Curtis Jones's injury stating that it's too early to talk about how bad the injury is.
"I think it's too early to tell [how bad it is]. He maybe could have played on, but I think maybe you could see he was not at 100 per cent. We hope he recovers really fast so we can see him in the next few games."
Liverpool will play Arsenal on Wednesday, 31st July 2024 at the Lincoln Financial Park in Philadelphia at 11:30 Pm.
