Mo Salah makes history as Liverpool cruise to victory against Ipswich Town

Liverpool cruised to a 2-0 victory over Ipswich Town in their first match of the English Premier League campaign.

After a tensed first half at the Portman Road, Ipswich Town was hopeful of securing maximum points or a point against the Reds.

As Ipswich Town kept opening Liverpool's midfield, the call for a defensive midfielder resurfaced among fans on the Internet.

A quick transition from defense to attack on the 60th minute orchestrated by Trent and Salah was finished calmly by Diogo Jota who had initially missed a free header.

The Reds established their dominance on the game five minutes later by getting a second goal through Mohammed Salah who scored on the 65th minute to put the Reds two goals up.

Mo Salah has set a new Premier League record for the most goals scored in the opening match week by scoring 9 times on the opening match days.

Conor Bradley, Cody Gakpo, Kostas Tsimikas and Ibrahim Konate got some minutes as they came on for Trent, Diogo Jota, Robertson and Jarell Quansah.

Manager Arne Slot becomes the first Liverpool manager to win his first EPL game in charge of the Reds in this century.

Liverpool plays Brentford next at Anfield on Sunday, August 25th 2024.
